Warren Buffett Hosts Luncheon at "the Steakhouse to End All Arguments" to Benefit the Glide Foundation
Each year, the "Oracle of Omaha" Warren Buffett lunches with winning bidders of a charity luncheon auction to benefit the Glide Foundation in San Francisco. The winning bidder brings seven guests to dine with the legendary investor at Smith & Wollensky New York City.
Over ten years ago, Alan Stillman, founder of Smith & Wollensky, agreed to make an annual donation to Glide for the privilege of hosting the lunch. Smith & Wollensky has been called "the quintessential New York steakhouse" by Gourmet Magazine and "the steakhouse to end all arguments" by The New York Times; it features USDA Prime steaks that are dry aged and hand-butchered in house.
Annually, Warren Buffett auctions a luncheon to benefit the Glide Foundation, which supports Glide Memorial United Methodist Church and its social service programs. The Glide Foundation is one of the most comprehensive service providers working with the poor and homeless in San Francisco. The Auction is in its 16th year and has raised over $25 million. Bidding for next year's lunch takes place in the first week of June; for more information on the Glide Foundation and the luncheon, please visit www.glide.org.
